Dr. Melchionna specializes in no-stitch cataract surgery and the medical treatment of glaucoma. He completed his internship at the Cleveland Clinic and his residency at the Louisiana State University/Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation.
Dr. Melchionna has been serving the Chicagoland community for 30+ years. Under his leadership, he has been instrumental in growing Simpson Eye Associates into the multi-location, multi-specialty practice it is today.
Dr. Melchionna is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Illinois Association of Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons

Dr. de Guzman is a board-certified and fellowship-trained Glaucoma and Cataract surgeon. He was born in Chicago and raised in Grayslake, IL. He attended college at Marquette University. He attended Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Ophthalmology residency at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Queens, NY, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. He further obtained his Glaucoma subspecialty fellowship at The Storm Eye Institute of the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.
Dr. de Guzman is passionate about protecting the vision of his patients. He has implanted most of the Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) devices available today.

Dr. Romaniv is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago. She then obtained her medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Afterwards, she studied intraocular lens designs as a research fellow at the University of Utah before completing her Ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans.
Dr. Romaniv is fluent in English and Ukrainian.

Dr. Winkler received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 2005. He graduated medical school from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, IL in 2009 and finished his medical internship at Northwestern University/McGaw Medical Center in Chicago, IL. He then completed his Ophthalmology residency and Oculoplastics fellowship at the Krieger Eye Institute in Baltimore, MD.
Since 2010, Dr. Winkler has worked along side his physician father with the Winkler Eye Mission, traveling to the Brenda Strafford Institute Les Cayes, Haiti to reach and perform surgery for the Haitian community. Dr. Winkler is passionate about helping patients see better.

Dr. Hussain is a born and raised Chicagoland-native. He completed his undergraduate and medical education in an accelerated 7-year program at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. He was honored with inductions into both the Phi Beta Kappa Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society while there.
Dr. Hussain completed his residency training at the Indiana University School of Medicine, serving as the Chief Resident his final year. He completed two fellowships in ophthalmic pathology and vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, which has been recognized as the nation’s #1 eye hospital over the past three decades.
Dr. Hussain has authored over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. He is excited to continue contributions in clinical trials assessing new therapies for retinal disease.
